Audio Uploaded

hey guys. i have uploaded what i can of the audio, im really sorry i haven't been able to complete it 100% but the time frames have been far too short for me to be able to get it to a standard i would be happy to show you all. I hope what i have uploaded is enough to work with. I am happy to continue work on it even after your deadline this afternoon but this will be when i get back from cyprus etc.

The file is in a new directory i created called "Sound". its a single wav file that should sync up exactly with the video file you sent me etc.

the Foley audio after the initial shot through the can scene is a bit sparse but i tried to get as much done as i could the past couple of days.

Shot 22 - Spit out and bullets in...I need to work on AE File.
Shot 23 - Jump over chair...Needs the pupils (I don't have it on my file but it is done)

Shot 27 a and b - Through the wall shot. Sam Composite two windows.Wall you probably already have and the other one I'm not sure.
Shot 29-31 Hitman Reaction ? - Will try and do this tonight as a lot of these have been cut.
Shot 32 - Blinds shot Probably use the same composite image for shot 27b
Shot 33 - Bullets on front of building.
Shot 39 - Rendered but needs to be comped with turned down bump on target which I have rendered on mac - will take 5 mins.
Shot 40 - walk towards target? Is it CUT? Don't have it though.
Shot 46 - Hitman drags out target - Rendered I think... ?
Shot 47 - Ninja Party, To render?

Last Shot

Guys,
Having abit of trouble with the last shot with the ninjas. The file just wont open on my computer, think theres too much in the scene file. Also tried opening it in wireframe to and no luck. If someone can try and open it can they delete everything but the cameras and the ninja grinding the pole. The file is on the Adrive, in the shots to render folder, named endshot3. Can someone let me know and send it to me asap.

Quick update

Just thought i'd let you guys know im having quite a bit of trouble. most of the work i did for the first half is null and void when the section with the weopon assembly arrives as there seems to be changes not just in timings but also in the speed and velocity of a lot of movements. im not too sure i should do anything until a final rendered version is perhaps ready as the only parts that still work are the parts that were rendered in the animatic version you sent me.

Sorry for the negative news peeps. Let me know of any thoughts and ideas towards this little dilemma as were rather short on time and i dont have much spare time to work on this before monday

MUSIC!

Right. The action score is done. I've uploaded it to my file on adrive, it's called 'Out of The Frying Pan'. There is two versions, one uncut version and another cut to the animatic. The track begins on the shot where the target jumps out of the chair. Let me know what you think guys, of course I will change it if you wish!

Spencer

...The tweaks you've done... I'm starting to think that they are VERY grey and unsaturated - when starting out this film we had BRIGHT concept designs and bright BOLD colours... and during your grading ... its starting to look a bit like a zombie film... The lighting I did in shot 4 (above the Fan) was really bold originally ... and now its so grey with so many overlays the lighting through the slats is almost invisible... any chance you could tone down the shots and overlays by about half - almost 3/4 in some.... i thought it was just going to be the first few shots that were dark to set the mood not the whole film to create the suspense of the hitman ... and then lighten up with the target in his boxers.

This is just my opinion atm... I tried to ring Sam but no answer... he may like it *shrug* if so... keep on going with it but my feeling is that it seems to be heading in the wrong direction for my liking.

Dan Dalli was impressed by the original table shot... but with the filters on it and overlays its looking flatter and flatter and I can see him making the face of :s... which is what I did when I first saw it tbh but I was waiting to see if it grew on me.

A few more shots down the line... and a DAY before deadline (I know and sorry) we can still hand in your version for submission if you want to keep what you've done so far but I was wondering if you could do a brighter version as well - keep us ALL happy :p
If not... I'll do another version of grading in another file for our submission.

Again... just my thoughts... I know you like how its turning out... which is why I don't want you to get pissed off with this but I had to see how far you were taking it... and I think its a bit too far personally.

Let me know your thoughts on the matter.

Should be a new sound file for you tonight (around 7pm) again some shots may be added in but its pretty much the final timing of the shots that are there... if that makes sense. eg may have missed shot 45... and gone straight to shot 46.... but still something that works hopefully for you to work with.

MUSAAAAK

Right guys. Just to let you know I did a bit of mixing today, and I did not like the ending to the Action piece that I had composed. It was kind of messy. So I recorded a new one, which is much better. I'm going to splice parts of the original ending in with this one though. The ending settles with a terminator like soundtrack, complete with plucked pizzacats, de-tuned organs and heavy guitars (inspired by the Halo soundtrack). Mixing should not take too long, and I should hopefully have it finished within the next 24 hours. Let me know what you think guys!

p.s.I've tried to download Sam's new animatic three times and it keeps mucking up. It think it is adrive!

URGENT READ

BIG problem guys . Me & stu were about to render one of his shots and it appears that stu has been using the OLD TARGET model, aka the target model thats uv'd ONLY . no shader info, no nothing, even the eyes are still nurbs .. which is the biggest problem !!!!

I, Mu & stu tried to fix it.. no luck

I'm glad dan imported the new model with shaders etc i made into the other shots ( shots for example that ferhan worked with) because that's the correct target model. Stus target model needs fixing URGENTLY as it's the wrong one.

This means every single shot ... which has the old model in it is gna need to be ;

Converted to polys
Fix the rig (connect the new eyes to the rig w/e )
and re-UV & texture the eyes again for every single shot. not cool

Bad news

sorry for te bad news but i dont think we would be able to use the bullet through the can dynamics. When importing the can itself into realflow, the scale of the can is very small compared to the size of the emitter. I tried scaling down the emitter to see if that would solve it, but becuase i scaled the emitter down to its smallest size the particles that emit do not stay in the can but it decideds to fall out of the can. I added gravity to fix it but it is doing the same thing. The only possible way of doing it would be by scaling the can up way big. i recorded a vid so you will see what i am talking about

Yo in shots to render folder on A-Drive I found shot 45. But the target doesn't grab the Hitmans leg in this one, so is it finished? If so then I will import the animation to the room and try and set up an occlusion of it this evening.

everything is on a drive

all my shots and props such as the ninja knife and throwing knife are on the a drive in my folder. the shots are in shots to render. Ive set a shot up on vanguard that just needs rendering,

where are the target textures?

i looked on vanguard for it but all i gotta do is add these to the target then i can render the target shots. I will hiopefully be in on sunday

First 35 seconds of sound



Here is a lil taster of my work today guys. this is the most complete section so far. currently working on the next section of foley and spot FX. once all that jazz is done it will be finishing touches like the music you guys supply etc :). I will most likely be working early in to the hours of the morning tonight with all that. All the room ambience's for the scenes throughout entire video are done too.

I have a question:

I cant exactly tell from the video i have, how many shots are fired exactly? im sure its quite a few from his pistol alone as he runs out of an entire clip before getting to the guy he is protecting across the street. Could you guys shed some light please? :)

heya chaps, bit of bad news on my part, my deadline has now moved to this Friday unfortunately instead of Monday the 24th. i haven't a clue why we have such a retarded deadline on my course but im stuck with it. There is a chance i wont get much in terms or my portfolio deadline but if you guys can try get me something by latest Wednesday morning that would be ideal as i would be going uni on Friday to hand it in :\.

dw tho everyone, even after my deadline ill carry on working with you guys to get it sounding ace but yer, even half the film would be ace for Wednesday morning. sorry to spring this on you all like this but i only found out today shaving two whole days off my working schedule :\

Looking Sweet...

Just rendering the textures for this shot, heres the occ to get you excited. Its looking good...

3 Days

Ok guys - most of our animation is now done - theres a lot on the Adrive that we need to get rendered out and composited - can we try and get as many as possible on this - We need a help with altering the lights and things for each individual shot - its very hard to set up each scene as it stands as we need different things in each.

I'll see you all tomorrow I hope - I think Sam said he was considering staying late and getting some renders done which'll be good... just because you finish your animation shot it doesn't mean the films done and your role has passed... move onto the next one or ask us what else to do.

We need to have as MANY renders as possible on the ADrive by Wednesday so we can get them to Kai for the Sound overlay... the more we can give him the better.

KAI if you read this - please note - each evening there will hopefully be a new sound file on the Adrive for you to work with and to overlay on so you can keep us posted on that front - just let us know how its going. I will upload another tonight for you - Sam and I managed to get shots 2 and 3 composited but the lighting will most likely change.


Stewart - we had to cut your second shot (labelled as Camera shot 3 - but actually shot 4 on the list).... walking towards the table ... it was glitching out by the window and on the hitman - something todo with the alpha channel... and the walk cycle from the back didn't look great - his legs are REALLY far apart each step.... Hope thats cool that its been cut. It has been rendered so you can view the final outcome and use it in your portfolio if you wish - but it has glitches as I said.

Ferhan - we need the 3rd Computer from the door as our project is set on the L: there... grab it when you come in each day mate. Thanks

WHAT A LOVELY DAY

I'm at Rave - rendering :) lol only me here and I have every comp... well I can only handle about 3/4 at once... but yeh - rendering shots is going down.
Shot 8 - Rendered last night and is looking nice atm... camera seemed to go walkies but I set one up... late yesterday evening with Sam - rendered out fine. Checking other shots today as well as setting off plenty.

Realised we gotta IDEALLY render 5 shots a DAY (including Sunday as we need Kai to do the audio still.

Please

Make sure all your files are updated on the Adrive (SHOTS TO RENDER) - looking at you Ferhan as we NEED to render them on Vanguardie lol. Sam and I are going to be in tomorrow setting them up and hopefully getting some KICK ass shiz out.

We shall see how we do tomorrow.
Tonight - I need to get my shot done - so I can't go out :( can't fall behind schedule now can I!? :( lol

Dan tomorrow I was gonna crack on with my last shot, the Ninja. Since I have to leave the other shot alone now, just wondering if the shoulders and all are weighted now on the A-Drive? I thought they where but I remember reading something between you and Spence involving textures so I wasn't sure. Just let me know if they are and where it is and I'll sort that out tomorrow.

P.S. I dunno what all this business about setting up renders on Vanguard is. Not sure if your on about laying out the animation in the scene and importing textures or whatever or whether it just means sending a shot to render but I should be finished with all my animation after this weekend (as best as I can do it at least) so I can jump on with whatever that entails once that's through.

Yo guys just a quick post to let y'all know I may be a little less active on the blog over the next couple of days because I am house/dog-sitting for some people until Monday morning. I have my laptop with me so I can still get my animation done, but they don't have wireless and their desktop that I'm using now is a bit dated so it's a hastle to use. So I won't be as ever present as usual. It's not a big deal but usually if someone needs like a file from me they message me on the blog so in the event of this just get my mobile number off Sam or if it isn't urgent put it up here and I will make sure to check the blog every evening.

This is meant to scare you

Ok.... we have under two weeks NOW until we hand in all our work for our BA Hons ANIMATION Degree - the rest is for the degree show.

MAYBE this will mean ppl will be staying late, setting renders off or compositing a little more rather than leaving it all to myself. Thanks for all the hard work ppls.... but we gotta churn MORE out in these TWO weeks than we have all year - we got to RENDER pretty much EVERYTHIING and god knows I'm not going to set up 50 renders on Vanguard alone - Sam - if you want this finished - get nominating - we need a 'Simon' to SEND off renders and to check they come out but we still need all animation shots DONE.

Keep it up.... and have a think - if your not doing all you can.... DO MORE! lol

Ps... Ferhan and I got a cheeky pizza today... it was goooood!

This is shot 35 so far - I'm NOT supposed to be working on it - but now I've fixed the door issue... when this is blurred in AE it'll look SWEEEET - havnt actually finished the animation but its passable for now.

QQ animation

Here is shot 32 so far, It's a lot harder than I thought it would be because he is actually interacting with the environment. Putting weight on the windowsill and moving the blinds.

I think Dan said something about the blinds being latticed, but I dunno how to get the things to move/ bend. I've been fussing over this one for too long, so if there are any crits then put them down and I'll try to fix what I can. After that if anyone else wants to clean it up a little then please be my guest.

right now I can't look at it anymore though :P

Message to Spencer

The motel tga's wont be ready for tomorrow as the occ layer is taking a while. Shot 7 completed on the render farm, so you can composite this shot instead and maybe set up some more renders to go.

Ok so I was going to have the target move from position A (illustrated by the model) to Position B (illustrated by my cack handed scratchings) however I can't get it to look convincing...at all.

So question is, can I set the left wrist to stay in that position where it starts the whole time. Like make it the pivot point. Because at the moment due to having to swivel the whole mesh around, the arms position changes too so it ends up all over the place and there is no sure fire way to key the inbetweens perfectly. It Jitters all about. Not only that but because he's low to the ground I can't really animate the legs moving round, he just sort of skids around like he's doing a donut lol.

Anyway I'm animating the bit when he's already crouching by the windowsill and peeks through the blind. But i might have to leave it at that because I can't do the first bit. I'll leave like 100 frames free at the start in case someone else wants to have a go at it.

A Question

Hi guys, I had a little look at the shot where the can gets peppered. I read that Dan wouldn't mind a little sniff in between the raining bullets. I tend to agree I think it would be pretty funny after the bullets go through the chair, the target has a little sniff. I noticed a problem, no sniff blendshape on the rig. I've done a little test of me animating the vertex points ( excuse the rubbishness). I'm wondering, will it affect Spencer's lovely texturing in away way. Tell me what you think and let me know.

Ninja Posed in Rigs has replaced Ninja - Final .... use this file ... hes in joshes pose and i got rid of some handles...so animate FK not IK - eg select bones and move him

He's also now got NO NURB eyes. Fixed that with Spencer today.
ONLY THING - dont move his head and then the eyes... dont make him blink if your moving the head :p lol move the head - then re-centre pivot the eye lids... and then make him blink - if its a dead ninja.... I duno...black eyes or suming lol... but atm I cudnt fix it... maybe Mu can tomorrow if we beg.

Spencer will be in 2mr around 12.30/1.30 ish to start dealing with renders and composites etc... we will be setting stuff to render 2mr hopefully. we had a fail on Shot 5 again.

Tonight I have some degree show shiz to do as well as more of my animation for the Wednesday Deadline but if anyone needs me am on ze blog

Close up of the gun as the Hitman pulls the trigger and finds his gun is empty. Used the same scene as the shot I just did and added this to the end with a different camera since I already had him posed. Just have to render off frames 75-13o I think. Saved as a seperate scene anyway.

Gonna move onto blocking out the Target crouching at the window, so if there are any major problems you have with it then post up here so when I come back to it I'll do my best to rectify whatever's up.

Seriously

Texture/concept artists should be BANNED from animating , it’s not fair on us .. or anyone else .. this is doing my NUT in .I basically don’t know what the smeg i'm doing hahaha. Seriously , can someone just take my shots ? i can't see me getting them done. I'm not gna pull the film down with my shoddy animating lol,lets be honest I’m gna make a complete cock of myself as well. I’ll just animate some clouds or something any background stuff :P , srs there’s reasons why I don’t animate rofl .

This should bring up the new window with a table (ABOVE) with your grades to the right of it... we (SV and I) believe that anything below Formative was WITH the formative - so these grades would probably be either blank (if you didn't do one) or LOW grades... mine were like an F and Ds lol.... the top 4 we THINK are your grade that matters.

we need to give him as much as possible - eg playblasts of all our finished work. I'm not going to go through and play blast EVERYTHING for everyone so if you could playblast your own shots would be useful... if you got the final version - cool... upload that to the Kai folder on the A-drive.
Kai has now got access to THIS blog to post new comments as well access to the Adrive to download playblasts etc.

probably can't see it too well but the clip drops out and the gun also cocks into place as his thumb presses a little invisible button. I'll whack it on the A-Drive in the rended folder in case you want a better look at it. I still havn't picked up a new USB, I'll nab one over the weekend so I can bring it in with me on Monday. But onto the A-drive it goes in case I forget.

This was pretty tricky actually, but I don't think it came out too bad. Pretty ameteur but not too bad :P

There's a sneaky bit of secondary animation on the tie at the end which I'm a little proud of, but you can;t really see it on the little video.

Yo just another quick shout-out regarding the handgun with the ammo clip? Asked aboot it yesterday but nobody seems to know where it is. I don't want to make another one only to have the other one turn up later :P

I figure Stu you probably have it so just whack it on the Adrive or e-mail it to me so I can add it in to my shot and finally put the old stamp of approval on that bad boi.

Heard about the troubles with the Target rig as well and since I've already done my shot with it I was freakin out, however I don't use the eyes in that shot since they only come into shot in the last second. So I can probably take the new eyes and plonk them in there without too much trouble.

I'm gonna be in on Monday to show my face so I guess I'll quiz Mu li on that and try and sort it. In the meantime I'm gonna try and play around with the ninja rig for my next shots.

Update on the Inside Out Page guys...
Images have now been added to the site so its easier to navigate - still waiting for Sarahs images and I'm guessing Max won't have a great deal of time to alter this until after Rave Live on 14th May... I'm supprised he found time to add these up as they are now.

Few problems - Quirke to be deleted - Bates to be deleted ... Spencers Face ... missing? lol sorry mate don't ask me!

New Target Rig

Cock, locked and ready to rock

Gawd, sorry for the delay on this one folks. It's proven quite tricky. I think the overall flow of it is cool though. So before you comment bare this in mind.

The idea is that a clip slips out of the gun right at the start as he's bringin up a new clip, he's a pro like that. He slots it in but to cock it (inuendos, jesus) his arms can't really meet that close together at his front without it looking, well, stupid. So Sam reminded me of some handgun Jack Bauer uses where the gun sort of auto cocks itself at the push of a button, so the gun will be doing that.

However to do this, Ima need the right version of the gat. I took the one from Stu's folder on the A-drive however there is no clip and it isn't scaled so I had to scale that bad boy myself. I distinctly remember there being a clip somewhere so if anyone knows where that version is just clue me in and I'll do the old switch-up.

Anyway, feed-back and such.

Target eyes

Ok his eyes are in NURBS, big mistake . i can't really texture these eyes while they are in NURBS as they don't have UV's ( it's a nurbs thing ) so someone is gna have too convert them to polys and then quite possibly have to re-assign those eyes bk to the rigg? until then this dude has no eyes lol . absolutely nothing i can do about it until they are polys.

Hi guys. I took Josh's advice and it helped. The hand stopped spazing for some reason so that's good, hopefully the problem will not return. I still had some problems with this rig, so the animation is not my best. Sorry. There has been a Little hiccup in pirates at the mo, so I don't know if you guys can rely on me. I don't want to let the team down so I will try my hardest!

Shot progress

Right guys, I don't want to sound like I'm winging, but I found it really difficult to animate with this rig. The controls are fine and the weights are good, but there are some issues that i personally had. One thing I don't think there is enough blendshapes for this shot. I mean, we can still cheat it though. The other thing is i cannot really control the fingers, also i cannot key the wrist rotations, which means I can't get any follow through. The eyeballs also poke through the mesh when you make the character blink. This is my progress so far, the animation is pretty poor, as my computer was lagging so I could not really see what I was animating. So the animation is not great guys. To top it off, his left hand decided to have a right little spack out for no reason, I did not key it, I DIDN'T EVEN MOVE IT! Please ignore his spacktacular hand and try and concentrate on the animation.

Spencer is in today

He is now going to be texturing the target next - and the latest UVed Ninja (rigged) is on the aDrive so use him. And keep on animating.
Ferhan has been animating Stus shot (title shot) shot 15 I think. To lighten the load - while he waits for other shots.

All is going well. Lets keep on going lads we are SO on target!

Update on shot 18, going alright. Sped up the arm as Dan suggested I think it's better now. having trouble adding the chug at the end but I'll get there.

just leave a note if something needs changing and I'll get on it. Keep on tweakin'

P.S. Uploading my previous two shots to the render folder on the A Drive in a sec, they arn't in the room so you'll have to import him. Also I'll nab the ninja while I'm there.

Ninja Rig

Josh - Ninja Rig is now on the A-Drive... if anything is wrong with him let me know... First time rigging.. weighting or whatever it was I did lol

Cheeky update to show how the blockout's going. Just getting the timing down. The gaps where he isn't doing anything are for him drumming his fingers and grabbing the can. I'm happy with the timing of him reaching for the can and raising it up. Wrote more over at my blog.

P.S. How does constrain parent work? Cos I need to make him pick up that can.

Room Scale...

The motel room is scaled. Now on the adrive in my folder. The table is also moved closer to the chair for you josh. Dan have a look at it when you get a sec to make sure everything is pukka.

Just a note

Yo just a quick note to say in shot 18 with the target taking a drink of beer I need to move the table closer to the chair and re-arrange a few bits on the table itself so that he can actually reach the can.

Also Sam is scaling down the whole room so that we have an accesible file where the Target isn't one of the borrowers. Do you guys want me to upload it again once I have moved the table around? Or just play it by ear?

Roll out the barrel

Played around with that barrel attachment shot and got it looking a bit better. hope ya diggs. As I said in my earlier post if there is a shot or two going that I can take on until the Ninja has a weighted rig just say the word.

Lighten the load

Since I didn't get any more feedback regarding the scope attachment or about extending the barrel attachment shot I'm going to assume they are both alright with you guys. In which case I can't do my Ninja shots yet since I don't have a working rig for that, so if there are any other simple shots flying about maybe I can lighten someones load? Or at least have a go at one.

I'll be working over the barrel shot anyway since I said I'd try and extend it in the mean time.

Oh btw .. Though you’ve probs thought about it buuut don’t wry about allocating me any shots for WHACK’d if things get tight, seriously .. Just leave me something to neaten up if that , like any shots that are dirty or w/e .. but yea, is everyone in Friday? Thursday? *Phew*

Website is almost done guys. Spent about .... 12 hours straight - with a few breaks of leaving college and driving and eating food and drinking and.... you know... a few 5min breaks.... but I've been altering things today on the website. Its finally taking shape. Final things to do - add personal contact pages E-mail Address for each person under the project and sort out whats happening about a number of people.... eg Quirke, PB (believe he's left now unfortunately).

Anyway... enough about what I HAVE done... now what I havn't.... SORRY I havn't been animating today or Monday too much - feels like I've done bugger all this week so I apologise for that. Tomorrow I'm going to be 90% Animation (I hope). Its going to be a LONG day lol.

Discription

Here are my discription for my site, it is in the order of the images, Thanks again Dan


This is one of the props which was modelled for the short film Whackd, as you can see i tried to go for more of a stylized look to suit the film.

This is the model of the apartment and surrounding buildings for the film Whackd, as this task was split into two, i was in charge of modelling the apartment while Sam who is one ofthe directors of the film was in charge of modelling the motel which is on the opposite side of my apartment. I was highlyinfluenced by the 3D animated film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as i tried to capture the style of the environment shown in the film

This is one of the earlier Ninja concepts I created for the film Whackd


This model of an Ipod touch is piece of work was created for my own personal work, as i
am passionate about modelling i try to model any objects that i have in front of me or objects
given as reference. This was modelled lit and textured by myself

Similar with the Ipod touch, i modelled this Ipod 5th generation for my own personal folder


As i am a huge Street Fighter fan, I decided to model on of the Street Fighter 4 arcade sticks,
it was pretty fun modelling an object which I constantly use to beat all the opponents
in the game. This to was modelled in Maya and was lit using ambient lights and HDRI

90% Done...

Scope attachment Update- Update

Ok so added some oomf! to when he clicks the scope on. Too much, too little, ok?

Also I added some movement to the tie and coat on the barrel shot, but this shot is real short or at least is in a playblast, it seemed longer in the trailer for some reason. In anycase I'm thinking of adding another second or second and a half before the attachment where he brings the gun into view from off camera. I just had a little go which is why this update took a little longer than planned and moving all the previous frames across cocked it up lol.

I can give it another go in a bit though, mandems needs some toast, get me?!

Whatcha think extend that shot or leave it be?

Scope attachment Update

Since I've expressed reluctance to be in college for ridonculous hours I figured I'd take into account something Dan said. He made a good point about having someone tell you where your shit stinks so to speak. So I'm gonna make sure to upload my animation updates everytime I make a change or improve upon something to get some critique.

So since you guys are gonna be living in college, keep one browser tab open on the team blog so you can tear up my animation lol.

With that out of the way let's get down to the nitty gritty. Here is an improved version of my scope attachment shot after taking into account stuff shuffs laid on me yesterday.

personally I don't like the lack of movement in the fingers but there was only so much I can do while he's supposed to be gripping something like that. Also the sleeve will probably need to be masked because it pokes through the scope a little. Other than that the little finger is a problem since it won't curl at a suitable angle and when I try to key the bone it just resets itself.

I added more movement to the rifle arm, moved the body a bit, fixed up the clicking of the scope and added the slide back. I made sure that where the slide ends is pretty much in line with where it should be in Ferhan's shots where he's holding the rifle. Also added the clip :)

Anyway I think it looks better than before but anything else y'all want me to try to change just leave it below. In the mean time I'll go back on the barrel attachment and try to add some movement to the tie, coat etc...

Pics for post--Updated



The Hitman character for our film Whack'd, ready for business. Modelled in Maya by myself. Rigged by Ferhan Kahn and Stewart Bull.



The Target, the other main character for the film. Modelled by me and rigged by Clym Smith.



The final character for our film, simply called `The Ninja` because...well..because he's a ninja. Oh yeah I modelled this dude too.

Some Panels from the final rendition of the storyboard. Been a while since I sketched these out.


A few more panels here, the story went through quite a few versions before I managed to produce a finished storyboard. This led to many re-drawn and unused panels.



Final concepts for the cast of our film. From left to right; The Target, The Target in his undies, The Ninja, The Hitman. I drew reference from the origional hitman design by Sam Saunders and produced my own rendition which came out as a mash up of that origional design, Clint Eastwood and The Hulk.


Like every aspiring artist you start to hate stuff you drew in the past so here's a few character pieces I've drawn since I created the characters for this film to show how my style has changed up/ improved. This character was a piece I just sat down and drew after a few hours playing Mass Effect.



I wasn't going to show this since the characters were not designed by me but I'm quite proud of it so what the hey. Copywrite and props go out to Sean `Cheeks` Galloway, a great cartoonist in his own right. This was my entry for a competition he ran a while back asking people to draw some of his characters, I didn't win but I had great fun drawing it and I think it looks pretty good.

About images

I'm gonna sort my images for the website a little later but I was just wondering if they all need to be related to our films? I saw Ferhan had an iPod or something which I don't remember appearing in our film so I was gonna maybe throw in 1 or 2 character designs that I did in my spare time?

Music

Hi guys, I thought I'd lay down the score (pun) about what's been going on with the music. I know Sam wanted a very Harry Gregson Williams style song for the action sequence. That has proven to be a bit of a problem, as my keyboard is extremely limited (it was dead cheap) and Harry uses a huge library of effects to get his sounds. After I couldn't do that I tried something a little heavier and more pumping, i.e Motorhead inspired. Halfway through recording the song I decided to play it alongside the animatic, it was way tooo heavy, it did not suit the tone of the film at all, it made the hitman seem like a demon or something. Looking hard 50's style and tone of movie, and keeping with the musical stylings of the previous recordings I have made for the movie, I have decided to go for a 50's surf style inspired by the guitar legend Dick Dale.

Dick Dale is most famous for his 1962 song 'Misirlou', which most people will know as the theme from the movie 'Pulp Fiction'. What I will do is take this style of high energy music and mix it with some orchestral sounds and synth sounds to see what I can come out with. I have already written the track, it is now just a case of recording it.








Let me know if this idea sits with what you guys want for the movie before I start recording.

I was guna use my SFX hard drive... but I can't find it anywhere... so if anyone has any useful SFX for 2mr please bring them... I got pretty much nudda.
I know kai is doing the sound... and believe me I dont want that job - just looking for a quick slap on job - spence if you read this - and have a gun shot somwhere ... duno why but I figure you would .... have NO idea where this is coming from though ... maybe coz u know kai.... anyway if you have one...e-mail it to me or A-drive it for the morning mate.

Problem

Ok i got a little problem here, for some reason i cant get into my rave mail so i could send the animation file over to dan, so instead i thought i would use the a-drive instead and the user name and password information in in my webmail which i cant access. Its probably not recomended to post the log in information on here, so what else you think i should do?

These are a couple of environment concepts for the Whack'd project. The motel interior was given a clean and polished look, in contrast with the apartment block.
Early sketches from the project. Keeping them rough at this point to avoid finalising anything.
The original concepts I created for my story pitch at the start of the final year. The Hitman was always visualised being this shape and weight. The characters were later developed by Josh Cook.

On a break at the mo and I remembered I saw this little doozie last night, just in case mister Fuzzy didn't know bout this. peep it.

Dude I think your timing is pretty good, Origionally I imagined that he would screw the silencer on but I think the way you've done it works. The only gripe I really have is that once the arm that raises the rifle up reaches it's apex it just stays there in that position.

For one it's a perfect right angle so holding it for a prolonged time at that angle seems awkward.

In the screenie is how I set him up for a test I did when he connects the barrel, It looks more natural resting the rifle on his leg or something but I appreciate we probly can't do that with the rig. but maybe just angle it a little.

Other than the angle (of the rifle) and the stiffness in the rifle arm though I think it's good, I like the timing and the subtle movements on the fingers. The angle is nice too.

Feel free to ignore my input since it's already like a million times better than what I can do lol. That's just how I see it :P

Righto me and Sam are having a problem with the Hitman rig With the Rifle and Case. Trying to unparent the Briefcase from the hand. As far as I can tell it is parented to the Wrist bone but when I unparent it, it just makes a bone dissapear and stays parented.

I can use the seperate Hitman and Rifle files to do my shots, which I have been up till now. (Switched over to make things easier) but Sam needs the briefcase. Also the rifle I have is much higher scale and I'm worried about the size I scale it to not correlating with you guys.

Yo dudes I posted up a little problem I'm having keying frames with the Hitman yesterday, I posted it on my own blog by accident lol, just realised. When someone has a sec just mosey over there and see if you can decipher the problem.

I have a feeling it's something pretty simple like I need to toggle an option on/off but i dunno what it is and I couldn't google it so yeah... I'll do some tests for the ninja animation in the mean time.

also...

Is there a wrist rotation control? Trying to do the scope attachment shot and it's been a nightmare using the elbow control to get the hand at the right angle.

I can do it, it just takes like 8 times as long. If anyone has figured an easier way to manipulate the wrists just holla. I'll carry on as is for the moment.

Not a problem for me.

I've been messing about with the Hitman rig and just noticed that his belt buckle is not parented or combined with the main model, as a result when I parent it/ combine it, it doesn't move when I move the rest of the rig. I don't think you see it in any of my shots so it's no biggie.

Just wondered if you guys saw this and sorted it cos I know that Stu and Dan have it in their shots I think.

I plan to upload a file with the Hitman and the briefcase INCLUDING the gun... meaning you have everything you could possibly need for the first few shots.

To piece the gun together - put all the translates etc back 2 0 - should fix (to be confirmed though) then control but the Gun group in the outliner... to move the gun as a whole!

Hitman on the Adrive

I've put him in the 'from spencer' folder in my area .

Note .. i couldn’t edit the uvs on the model lol ... computer said no .. i haven’t a clue why, it just didn’t want to do it .. also something funky with the model is that the uvs on the editor vanished :S yet textures still show .. so yea .. DNT ASK.. Btw can you sort out the render thing on it again so it shows up , cant sort out the shaders till then .. Anyways, sm tweaking on Monday and then he is fini lol

Animating

Quick question, do we need to animate the character in the rooms where he is supposed to be or can we animate him in a new file then export the animatin over. Im probably going to start animating on monday when i am in uni

If you havent animated the hitman yet ...

Send me him so i can sort out his neck uvs and get all the shaders correct .. otherwise it’s gna have to wait till monday when I come in and all you will have atm is a color map .

Spencer

Any chance of you uploading the hitman texture file(s) to the ADrive so we can have it ready for lighting etc in the animation - Stu is starting tomorrow as am I.

on the drive

The hitman is on the drive any problems let me know. One problem is moving the left leg back the foot goes off on one but if you use the ball roll you can put it straight. Why it does this i dont know but its fixable in the rigg so it takes the problem away. Anything else let me know :)

Webby Sitey


Website is well under way now - its what I've been doing most the day ... but it's SLOWLY getting there.

- faces at the top are not yet added but Max should be doing them soon .... either way - project pages are happening - just need RR to publish and we got all films for our index page!!! Whack'd is our Temp one atm I put together as are the images - just coz I want something on there while we choose images. Images can be ANYTHING on the blog you've uploaded - as long as the BLOG exists - so will the image!


Ps i'm not keen on the gold locks.... lose them? someone else verify they look shite. lol
Just to let you know i'm gna finish off my PPD then continue with the room .. should be done v v v v soon hehe

Spencer - Probably best if you UV the car in the separate file so I can import it later with my textures in the master file.

Briefcase is UV'd Stu...



The texture I'll obviously coz every1 else is guna b like WTF?! lol Either way you can animate now - IF ANY TEXTURES SPACK OUT STOP ANIMATING and let me know right away and I'll fix!

Nice and tidy Outliner as you can see there - deleted the inside so you can work with a LIGHTER file - I have UV'd the one with the crap in though so they will stay the same :)

Handle is the only thing that will budge on this one - the rest is all combined into one - you don't need it for the first shots anyway :p.

Also the latest file of room is on the ADrive - putting that on there in a mo.

Both in my folder. Also Stu - so I can animate my Shot can you put the Hitman (final rig) on the ADrive so I can start my animation. Cheers.... and are you going to be working in referencing of importing - if you reference you can literally click off the referenced file (eg the room) or I can reference your animation and render on my machine with all the room textures etc rather than going back and forth...
